Features
Single source authoring
Create HTML Help, cross-platform HTML-based Help, WinHelp, JavaHelp™, and print documentation from a single set of easily maintained Word documents! Generating your Help system to a different platform is as simple as selecting the platform and clicking a button. The end results are clear; ComponentOne Doc-To-Help can save time, increase productivity, and maintain consistency, which allows you to focus on content.
Built-in or custom templates

ComponentOne Doc-To-Help includes a variety of templates for producing high quality print documentation. You can modify the built-in templates or use your own templates to gain control over both online and print output.

Unparalleled conditional text facility
Designate document regions for a specific platform or output target. Define your own conditional text criteria to build true single source solutions. For example, you can maintain one set of documents with novice, expert, and administrator material. Then use ComponentOne Doc-To-Help to deliver the appropriate content in any supported format.
Intuitive user interface and Word toolbar
ComponentOne Doc-To-Help has a redesigned "all-in-one" interface that puts full functionality at your fingertips, not hidden in a maze of dialogs. We've extended Microsoft Word by adding a toolbar and menu commands for quick access to many Help authoring functions, such as margin notes, dynamic links, glossary, and conditional text.
Other Features
Full Windows XP and Office XP support
Now you can develop your Help projects with the new features in Word 2002, the Office XP word processor.

Faster build times
No need to rebuild your entire project, instead only rebuild those documents that have been modified. Smart builds dramatically reduce your build times and facilitate incremental development.

Microsoft® Help 2.0 Ready
ComponentOne Doc-To-Help is Microsoft Help 2.0 ready! Microsoft Help 2.0 introduces many great new features while retaining most of the features found in HTML Help 1.x. Presently Microsoft Help 2.0 can be used in Visual Studio for .NET.

Database architecture
ComponentOne Doc-To-Help 's unique project architecture stores the relationships among styles, topics, index keywords, and table of contents entries in a per-project database, automatically generating index entries, hyperlink tags, jumps and pop-ups, etc. You can also share information among multiple projects!

Project Editor
With the Project Editor, you can perform a wide range of Help authoring tasks (such as in-place editing and topic filtering and sorting) from within one interface, making editing source documents and setting the properties of Help targets very convenient! It complements the familiar Word-based interface by adding TOC/index editors, customizable topic views, reports and embedded Help.

Enhanced graphics
You don't need to scale an image in a graphics package before adding it to your document--simply use the Insert Picture and Format Picture options within Microsoft Word! You can also easily create hot spots with graphics.

Margin notes
Adding margin notes is as easy as clicking the Insert Margin Note button on the ComponentOne Doc-To-Help toolbar and entering the desired text. You can also make those margin notes appear in the online Help as pop-ups by selecting the hot spot text and clicking the Link to Margin Note button.

Customizable HTML themes
Properties specific to HTML Help and cross-platform HTML Help have been added to ComponentOne Doc-To-Help . Now you can add colors, background images, and navigational features.

Links, jumps, pop-ups, and more
ComponentOne Doc-To-Help makes it a snap to add topic links and jumps, pop-up topics, dynamic links (A-links and K-links), and cross-references.

Glossary terms
Creating glossaries is easy! Use the convenient toolbar buttons to add and sort glossary terms. During compilation, Doc-To-Help searches for text that matches glossary entries and converts those matches into hypertext links.

Enhanced indexing
As your source documents are compiled, topic hierarchy information and any existing XE field data are extracted and saved to the project database. You can then easily attach index keywords to topics and just push a button to rebuild the project and update its index.

Scripting
If you're a programmer, ComponentOne Doc-To-Help even allows you to use Microsoft Visual Basic® scripts to customize the behavior of individual styles at compile time!

Modular help projects
ComponentOne Doc-To-Help handles modular Help projects so you no longer have to edit Help compiler files in Notepad.

Conversion utility
Easily convert your existing Doc-To-Help 2000 projects with the click of a button! True Help 1.0 files are automatically converted when they are opened.

Useful reports
You can organize your large projects with reports that show contents, index, script, style, and topic information. In addition, you can create hierarchical data views, such as reports showing topics with keywords and vice versa. You can print or preview any report.
