Remote access to client data

access a QuickBooks company file on a different computer.
Check details in client files, enter changes, set up a new company file, or
train your clients on QuickBooks without ever leaving your desk.
Whatever you would normally do using QuickBooks at your clients office you
can now do from your own office – including:
Bookkeeping
Account reconciliations
Running reports Month-end procedures
File setup and maintenance
Setting up reports Adjusting journal entries
Training clients
Backing up data files
Accountant Navigator
Your new Accountant Navigator is a key message centre and organisational
tool that will keep you up-to-date and will make working in QuickBooks even
easier than before.
From the Accountant Navigator, you can access:
All the new QuickBooks product features that accountants need the most
Most-commonly used reports for accountants or your own list of preferred
reports
Journal Entries
Work faster with better controls by using new Journal Entry options,
including:
One-click general journal entry reversal
Automatic numbering of journal entries
Auto-filling journal memo fields
A memorised report for Journal Entries Entered Today
Reversing an entry creates a new entry – dated the first day of the
following month – that reverses the debit and credit amounts. All account
assignments remain unchanged.
Reconciliation Reporting
Be more productive by saving and viewing previous reconciliation reports and
view a summary report of all client changes made since the last
reconciliation.
The Reconcile Discrepancy report lists transactions that have changed since
you last reconciled an account. This is helpful when the beginning balance
that QuickBooks shows for a new reconciliation period is different than the
ending balance from the bank statement for the previous period.
Report Templates
If you have a particular report you'd like your clients to run, set up the
report as a memorised report on your own computer and then export the report
settings as a report template. Your clients then import the template and run
the memorised report using their own QuickBooks data.
The report template lets you specify all the report settings in advance –
for example, the report's date, format, and filter settings.
Your clients simply import the template file and then run the report from
the Memorised Report list.
When you set up report templates, avoid using filter settings that may not
work in other files. For example, filtering for a specific account, customer
name, job, supplier, employee, or item would not be appropriate for another
file. Use broad filters such as "all accounts", "all customers", and so on.
QuickBooks Accountant 2006 offers accountants a new Financial Statement
Designer that is easy-to-use.
You can now format statements that meet the specific needs of your clients,
using a built-in spreadsheet-like tool, You can insert columns for prior-
year balances, show percentages or variances between other columns, insert
rows for sub-totals, or group accounts in any way that you want.
Other features of the Financial Statement Designer include:
Create title pages, notes to financial statements, supporting schedules
and compilation letters using the integrated document editor.
Utilise templates for title pages, Auditor's and Directors' reports, and
Notes to the Accounts.
Choose from over 20 financial statement layouts including balance sheets,
income statements, and comparative and trend financial reports.
Save financial statements as PDF files or export them to Excel™.
Import your customised statements into other QuickBooks Accountant company
files for use with any client.
